“Feeling” is one of the most important components of training for physique. No matter what gym you go to, you will have seen someone doing a bicep curl, for example, with little regard for proper technique or knowledge of what they are doing. They are just trying to heave as much weight as possible, shouting and screaming, and paying little or no attention to the exercise. Success in body-building however comes from the muscular contraction. It is both the key and the secret. If you don’t FEEL the muscle, you can’t grow the muscle.

TRAINFITNESS has always led the way with technology in the fitness education sector. We were the first to offer online learning back in 2000, the first to offer digital media within an app for group exercise instructors and personal trainers, and have continued to develop technology-based tools designed to make the life of fitness professionals easier. We’re very happy to announce the release of our updated iOS App (Version 7). The TRAINFITNESS Mobile Student Desktop sees a number of performance and stability enhancements over the previous fitness fx and Fitness Industry Education apps and, when combined with the new web-based Student Desktop, creates are more integrated and unified user experience.

Changing careers can be both exciting and scary. The prospect of having a new job as a personal trainer, where you are your own boss, can be a very motivating. The idea of having to start studying again; however, may feel like a huge hurdle. The longer it has been since you last studied, the higher that hurdle may seem.

The one thing all new students on our group exercise to music courses say is they never realised how much then needed to know in order to teach. Great instructors educate, demonstrate, observe, entertain, remember choreography, accommodate different levels, modify the class as needed and all of this is done in time with the music. Yes, there are a lot of skills required to be a great instructor.

I first became aware of Train Fitness back in 2009 after qualifying as a Zumba Instructor and looking to further my knowledge in the industry. I’d researched many different providers and Train Fitness seemed to be the most competitive in price, and the most impressive in course. Not long after I became pregnant with my daughter and so my plans of becoming a Fitness Instructor were put on hold temporarily! Fast Forward to 2012 and I finally bit the bullet and signed up to do my ETM.

It’s summer time and the weather is (sometimes) fine! We asked London based personal trainer Rachel Thompson for her take on training outdoors: "Now summer is here so why not take your training outdoors. I love nothing more than a sunny Saturday afternoon training in one of London's green spaces. But why would I want to train outside when I have access to train in various indoor gyms with awesome pieces of kit and up to date equipment?
