It’s a hard life but someone has got to do it! There are few more rewarding things than spending your working day doing something you enjoy, but when the job comes with perks attached it is time to admit you’re a lucky lady. We talk a lot about the challenges we are taking on but we are getting help along the way. It is great to have the chance to educate and hopefully inspire other people that are considering the concept of competition but it is easier when we are receiving terrific support from various friends that look after us.

It is all very well setting aside the time and energy to train your body into better shape but if half of that time is spent waiting for the squat rack to become free you’re not going to get as much done as you would like. We are very fortunate with the facilities made available to us at the training grounds we call our own.

Not only does the Train Fitness brand hold title to our challenge, it also plays host to our sessions. The bespoke studios located between Southwark and Borough tube stations offer top of the range equipment and plenty of (heavy) breathing space for the trials and tribulations that our task masters, Bryn Ray and Richard Scrivener, set for us. It is the ultimate training environment for anyone wanting to not only enjoy their fitness but progress with it too. Better still, it is also immaculately maintained at all hours from the 6am HIIT sessions through to the 10pm stretch. The relatively small number of members ensures that everyone fully respects the state of the art machines as well as the functional space and equipment offered. We treat it like it’s our own.

In addition to this, virtual classes run throughout the day and evening. So, whether you’re up for a fight or feeling the pump, the selection of fx and T3 classes cater for all tastes and needs. There is plenty of variety from 30 minute HIIT classes to hour-long sessions packed with stepping and grooving. They all act as the perfect cardio filler. For us, the strength tests are personal favourites but combining the two elements is essential to achieving the results we desire. With so much choice and opportunity across the different programmes we can maximise our time and leave none left to question our achey muscles and racing hearts!

I get a little bit annoyed when I hear people talking about coaches or trainers that 'must not be good' because they 'use a trainer themselves'. They use them because trainers and coaches understand the importance and value of having that person there. Take motivation, for example. People hire a trainer for accountability and to give them a push. Trainers are people too. Yes, they're very good at pushing others but finding your own personal motivation is a very different story.

It’s summer time and the weather is (sometimes) fine! We asked London based personal trainer Rachel Thompson for her take on training outdoors: "Now summer is here so why not take your training outdoors. I love nothing more than a sunny Saturday afternoon training in one of London's green spaces. But why would I want to train outside when I have access to train in various indoor gyms with awesome pieces of kit and up to date equipment?
