Smoothies don’t have to be bad, in fact they can pack in a lot of essential nutrients, here are some of our favourites.

We love a smoothie over here at TRAINFITNESS. You can hear the whirr of the blender from the kitchen throughout the day and we have talked about them extensively on out blog. Why do we love a smoothie? What’s not to love; they taste great, they can plug nutritional gaps, dependent on ingredients you can get a big protein hit or a carblicious treat, they can also satisfy a sweet tooth without being too unhealthy.

Below, we have come up with 3 smoothies for you to try out and we will have more for you to enjoy in the future.

Green Goodness

This one would be nice to kick start your day, or fuel you before a workout. The apple, banana and rolled oats will provide some much-needed energy, the coconut oil and leafy greens will help keep you full too

Double K

Kale and Kiwi, some might gag at the thought, others might jump in delight. Either way, this is a nutritional beast of a smoothie and definitely one you should consider. The kale provides a nice hit of vitamins A, C and K along with calcium and iron. The kiwi brings flavour, sweetness and fibre.

What you will need:

  • Big glug (200ml or more, it’s your choice) of whole milk (skimmed or nut will work fine)
  • Big bunch/handful kale
  • 1 kiwi (leave that skin on!!)
  • 1 tbsp. peanut butter (other nut butters will work as well)
  • 1 tsp. honey, or agave nectar or maple syrup

What you do:

Blend all the ingredients. Drink, enjoy!

Mango Blueberry Madness

A personal favourite and popular with the TRAINFITNESS team is this delicious concoction. Nutritionally this recipe is spot on, with the mango providing a whole host of health benefits mixed with avocado (who doesn’t love avocado) and a boost from the blueberries. Try this soon and you will see why we like it so much.

What you will need:

  • Half a mango
  • Half an avocado
  • Handful blueberries
  • 1.5 tbsp. natural Greek yoghurt
  • Juice of half a lime
  • 1 tsp. honey (or more, it’s ok treat yourself)
  • Handful of ice cubes
  • Water or if you like, mango juice

What you do:

Blend all the ingredients, try not to down it in one
