Part 1 - CPD

Qualifying as a personal trainer is both a rewarding and fulfilling experience. It’s the first step in changing the lives, attitudes and health of many. It allows you to have a positive long-term effect on people through the skill and qualifications you develop while training to become a personal trainer and finally earning your certificate. You earn the right to become your own boss, allowing you to share your passion for a healthy active lifestyle with all those you come into contact with.

All sounding pretty good, right? But what next? You’ve got the paper, you’ve got the certificate, but what happens next? How do you go about applying for jobs? How do you know which gym will suit you? Bryn Ray

Luckily, there’s an abundance of avenues and plenty of paths you can take to channel your love of fitness. Be it teaching pump fx, or practising yoga, the opportunities are endless. This may seem a little overfacing to some new to the fitness industry, but don’t panic!

It’s a competitive world out there, so the more you’ve got to give, the better your chances are of finding your fitness. Upgrading your qualifications is one key step you can take in the right direction. Personal trainers who stay current and are constantly looking to develop their own skills can help to keep sessions fresh, improve their ability to get results for their clients and most of all keep things fun!

Yet another reason is that REPs UK, or the Register of Exercise Professionals, has made it mandatory for all fitness professionals to earn 24 CPD (Continued Professional Development) credits every two years. These courses enable fitness professionals to expand their knowledge and keep up to date with the latest industry-related techniques and scientific know-how.

By staying current you can get your name to feature on the REPs list, and hit those important points needed to class as keeping your skills fresh allowing re-registration.
