Our Certificate in Leisure Management course includes seven units – six mandatory units plus one optional unit that you choose.
The mandatory units are:
- Understanding how to lead a team in active leisure
- Promoting customer care in active leisure
- Understanding how to manage health, safety and welfare in active leisure
- Understanding the active leisure and learning sector
- Understanding employment rights and responsibilities
- Continued professional development in active leisure
The optional units for you to choose from are:
- Understanding how to supervise facility maintenance in active leisure (Facility Maintenance)
- Understanding financial procedures in active leisure (Finance)
- Marketing in active leisure (Marketing)
- Operating swimming pool plant*(Pool Plant Operations)
- Understanding how to sell services and products to customers in active leisure (Sales)
- Delivering objectives through the work of an active leisure team (Team Management)
Leisure Management Course Study Options

As soon as you enrol you can access the associated leisure management course assessments, as well as the Learner Success team.

Our leisure management courses are conducted as home study.

- Complete as home study the online course material and portfolios.
- Submit via our Help Desk a copy of your completed portfolios.

Recognition
You’ll achieve the relevant Level 3 qualification upon successful completion of our Fitness and Leisure Management course, the certificate for which will be issued by the awarding organisation.
The course is also recognised by CIMSPA, and meets the criteria for official American College of Sports Medicine Approved Provider status◊.
Pre-Requisites
A basic level of English and Maths is necessary to understand the content of this course, otherwise there are no education prerequisites.
*Operating Swimming Pool Plant Unit
This unit requires you to complete a work sheet and an observed assessment. For the observed assessment you must have access to a facility with a pool. You must arrange to be observed by either an assessor or an occupationally competent witness as you:
- carry out a backwash of pool filtration systems in line with manufacturer’s instructions and local written procedures
- clean pump strainer baskets in line with manufacturer’s instructions and local written procedures
- complete all records relating to the achievement of daily/weekly maintenance procedures
- record the results of the checks and tests carried out on swimming pool plant
