MANDATORY UNITS

A team leader must at all times be aware of the goals of the organisation and know how they and their team fit into the business plan. This course identifies the qualities of a good team leader such as motivational, supportive and inspiring and ways to master these skills.

Effective leadership and customer care skills are hugely important when managing a leisure facility. This course looks at the key aspects of leadership and customer care and focuses on how to monitor member attrition and retention.

As a manager of a facility, planning and delegating work for your team is hugely important. One effective and tested method used in this process is the art of standardisation. This course covers the process of standardisation and a range of functions and activities that can be used within an active leisure team.

The active leisure and learning sector is a complex and growing market, where new concepts and ideas are continually being developed. This course is aimed at those working within the health, fitness and leisure sub-sector of the overall active leisure market and investigates all aspects of the sector.

As a manager of a leisure facility it is important that the basics of employment law are understood. This course looks at employment rights and responsibilities to give you an understanding of organisational obligations that meet staff requirements.

Reputable organisations will have a learning and development strategy or training cycle in place which all staff will use to help self-develop. This course looks at how to plan staff development to ensure employer needs are met and personal development of the team is attained.

Appropriate financial procedures are hugely important in active leisure and this course looks at how to develop financial and business procedures to help businesses meet their objectives.

All organisations have policies or procedures on standardisation and how these policies should be applied. This course looks at how leisure managers can deliver objectives across a facility and ensure standardisation is maintained.

There are many types of operational facilities in the active leisure sector. This course looks at the types of facilities and how they are maintained to the appropriate standards.

A common way to divide up your marketing is by looking at the marketing mix. This course looks at the marketing mix (or 4 P’s) method which allows you to look at different areas of your marketing strategy and look for areas of possible improvement.

All products have a lifecycle and this course looks at the marketing processes available to assist company's evolve their products inline with market needs.

This course covers the systems used to maintain the quality of swimming pool water as well as the chemicals used in the treatment of swimming pool water and the necessity for routine checks and maintenance procedures.
